About Owley Farm Mushrooms

Owley Farm Mushrooms is a specialist mushroom producer based on the Kent–Sussex border, where third-generation farmer Harvey Piper is bringing a fresh approach to local food production through the cultivation of gourmet mushrooms.

Building on the farming heritage of Owley Farm, Harvey has developed a thriving mushroom enterprise focused on growing high-quality specialty varieties for local customers, restaurants, and food businesses. The mushrooms are carefully cultivated in controlled conditions, allowing for consistency, freshness, and quality throughout the year.

The farm produces a range of gourmet mushrooms, including varieties that are rarely found in conventional supermarkets, giving chefs and home cooks access to distinctive flavours and textures while supporting local food production.

At the heart of the business is a commitment to growing food close to the communities it serves. By supplying directly to local markets, retailers, and customers, Owley Farm Mushrooms helps strengthen regional food networks while reducing the distance food travels from producer to plate.

Their approach reflects exactly the kind of food production YILD believes in: innovation rooted in farming tradition, shorter supply chains, and a closer connection between producers and the people who enjoy their food.

As part of YILD’s producer network, Owley Farm Mushrooms represents a new generation of British farming, combining agricultural heritage with sustainable local production to bring exceptional mushrooms to communities across the South East.

"Good produce starts with good soil and a bit of patience. We grow it properly, and Yild gets it to people's tables while it still tastes like something."
